It was a Saturday Morning,
We generally Wake-up late by 8:30-9:00 AM. And Clock runs faster than other
days.
It was 10:00 AM when We
could have finished up with News paper & Tea and some plays with kids.
Mobile rang and it was a
transporter who had brought a By Air
shipment from Chennai to Mumbai and yet
not cleared due to some N-form issues ( A Document needs to formalize).
He called me up to arrange
some more documents to present to the authority to get this shipment cleared.
First I had shouted up on
him that Why did he not ask me this yesterday itself as I had given him all the
required documents in previous morning and my central team had confirmed that
assurance received for clearances & delivery by the same evening.
10:15 AM; I could be able to
send required documents to that transporter by E-mail and called-up him back to
ensure the clearance and to deliver it by 12:00 PM to Warehouse at Bhiwandi ( I
was aware that in practical, I am asking the moon, To close with Airport
authority & Then check post of BMC is not that easy in the Mumbai however
all the systems are automated & computerized now). Only pro activeness can
avoid delays which is missing at all levels as I sense nowadays.
This call disturbed me as
some of the business commitments were there to meet by this Stock. I called
first to Business Spoc as deviation was foreseen. It was 10:30 AM.
Just after I called to
Central coordinator to check with who had committed and passed the wrong commitment
yesterday and to share the sensitivity of this transaction to expedite now. But
call remain unattended.
I kept waiting for revert, on
an interval, I called to his manager and briefed the matter and he assured to
get a call back, It was almost 11:30 AM.
Central coordinator called me up perhaps after getting call from his Manager
and assured to check, expedite & confirm back.
It was 12:30 PM; I called-up transporter’s team at Local level if shipment has moved
by now. He was helpless with process and
was waiting in queue with a loaded vehicle and submitted papers. I again called
up to Business spoc to share the status perhaps by 01:00 PM.
All of the family member
were ready by now and were looking if I could start for my routine of bath,
prayer & lunch. I could make it by 2:00
PM and my house maid was staring if I could finish on time as She was
waiting to clean up that room. My home is small so my drawing converts from
dining to kids room & to bed room for noon time.
By 4:00 PM;
Again I called up to the transporter where if his vehicle had released from
airport & found him waiting at check post now. Power cut was first and now
the systems were running slow for two hours at BMC Check post so Vehicles were
in long queue. Not sure about all truths.
Again I called to Central
coordinator if he had received any update by now but remained unanswered. It was 4:30 PM by when again I called
to transporter, same hang on check post, I have asked if officer is ready to clear
on manual basis, He took driver on call where He shared that Manual clearance is
already given but he is waiting for computer receipt. We mutually agree to
clear on manual paper and to collect Computer generated print in return.
Finally Material reached by 5:30 PM at Bhiwandi and now started
to chase customer if He is ready to accept late in the evening as again the
material had to cross another check post. Customer politely said why you all
are worried so much, I will take that on Monday, no hurry. Urgency was in last
three days which already had passed.
Kids had woken up from their
second sleep by now and were staring. My 4 years old son asked humbly, “ Papa
is that same thing has got resolved by now you have been struggling since
morning.” And wife added It’s only one thing in his job gets stuck each
Saturday and sufficient to know in how systemic environment papa works.
I smiled, and took a long
sip of the tea. They are right by their logic but often life is also the same,
sometimes takes multiple efforts for same goal and sometimes doesn’t respond to
our wish as It must have busy on something much urgent.
God bless All!
